Northwestern Mutual - Puget Sound Honored with Community Impact Award

Northwestern Mutual – Puget Sound has been honored with the 2012 Community Impact Award for its work with the Ben and Catherine Ivy Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment. The Northwestern Mutual Foundation is honoring the office’s outstanding volunteer efforts by awarding the medical center with a $50,000 grant on behalf of the Puget Sound office.

The Ben and Catherine Ivy Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment is the first multidisciplinary treatment and research center in the Pacific Northwest dedicated solely to the treatment of brain tumors. The medical center will use the grant to help fund new brain cancer research, raise awareness and gain financial support through its participation in and financial support of the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk.

Northwestern Mutual’s Seattle office began supporting cancer research in 2011 with its participation in the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk, raising more than $32,000 dollars for the cause. After their initial success, the team committed to raising money for new, innovative treatments for brain cancer.

The Community Impact Award was presented at Northwestern Mutual’s 2012 Western Regional Meeting, held in San Diego, California, in early March. The award annually recognizes Northwestern Mutual offices that demonstrate exemplary volunteerism in their own communities.
